MEET SAM
About: SamanthaI'm a pint-sized mama who calls St. Louis, Missouri her hometown. I went to Art School instead of a traditional university, and though I had originally planned to pursue a career in Graphic Design, all the composition, color theory and art history kept inspiring me - and those visions were photographs, not logos or websites. My goal in being a photographer is to continually create, by experimenting with all manners of the rules (and breaking them when need be) of composition, color theory and light that I learned in Art School.If I were to admit to my addictions, they would include books, gourmet chocolate, cake and wine, scarves and hats, anything Science-Fiction, dresses, shoes, and online shopping. I love new pens and journals, Spring and Autumn, the color blue, and laughing babies always make me laugh too.I have a passion for The Arts (art, dance, music, theater, literature), hot tea, positive energy, my puppies, and most of all, my two little boys Kadin and Max.I am so incredibly grateful to do what I do. I am humbled by having the opportunity to work with so many fantastic couples - my clients are THE BEST! This job takes me to so many places and connects me to so many people that I would otherwise never get to meet. I love it, am so thankful for it, and I take great pride in what I do. Incredibly personal, emotional, and beautiful, each wedding is unique and should be treated with the reverence it deserves.And at the same time, you want your day to be FUN, right?Is there any party in the world more awesome than a wedding? I am in L-O-V-E with the life-changing and romantic notion of combining two lives. Weddings are a celebration of your love and all the ways you two make each other better people. There is nothing more amazing than that! My approach to wedding photography is holistic. My style is mostly documentary and candid - I watch for the emotion and take pictures of it as it unfolds, and try to do so without you even knowing I'm there. But I also do a little rearranging (of dresses, hands, hair, jackets, veil, bodies, etc.) because it just won't do for you to look not-quite-perfect. I also revel in details and focus on all the work that went into making sure your wedding reflects your personalities. And of course, you have to have those timeless, classic portraits. All of these different approaches come together to ensure that your photographs tell the beautiful story of Your Wedding Day. I work to get to know you and your fiance, so that between your engagement sessions and your wedding photos, you have a documentary of how your love and your life together started.
